"Sixty Years On" - 1959

There was a film show in January and in the following month a party rode up to Cambridge for a cycling lecture.  There was considerable concern at this time over the proposal that mopeds and motor cycles should be able to use the special cycle tracks on some roads.  Kingston threw the "50" open to other than C.T.C. members and a deputation from Toc H attended a Woking Section committee seeking aid with a child cycle training scheme.  Help was given and it is believed that this effort by Toc H was the beginning of the present-day ROSPA cycling proficiency scheme.

Gladys Eyles, Marion Rose and 'Paddy' Shea started riding with Woking Section and Ron Osborne's employers transferred him to the Channel Islands so he resigned as D.A. Secretary and was replaced by Colin Cape.  It is interesting to record that at this time Woking had six tricyclists but they proved something of a menace when they all came out together.  In June, help was given on the Vets ride when elevenses were at Effingham, lunch at Guildford and tea at Lingfield.
