WEST SURREY NEWSLETTER No.27
THE WONDERS OF MODERN MINITURISATION have reached us at last. The advantages are manifold - less paper, lighter, easier to carry and, of course, the typewriter is only a quarter of the size! The rumour that it will also affect the length of the runs is unfounded.
MAY IS A BUSY MONTH:- SPEEDJUDGING and ROUGHSTUFF events on Sunday
9th May - they are both good fun and count towards the Benstead Cup - if
you haven't got your BENSTEAD CUP LEAFLET ask Keith for one.
May 15/16th - MASS MIGRATION TO THE ISLE OF WIGHT - the THURSDAY
NIGHTERS go for the weekend and the INTERMEDIATE take advantage of cheap
train travel on the Sunday - less than £5 return from Guildford;
contact Dave Butler, Guildford 810356. (There is also a normal Intermediate
ride).
May 29th/31st - YHA WEEKEND - Cranbourne and Litton Cheyney - car
assisted - contact Russ Mantle.
FURTHER BENEFITS FOR CTC MEMBERS!!! - the following cycle dealers
offer special terms to members upon production of their membership card:-
WOKING CYCLES - 10% off bikes, other than those already discounted
- 5% off accessories - lightweight stock being increased - special orders
met in 7 to 10 days - frame repairs, enamelling and plating service - high
class wheel building.
PEDAL PUSHERS, GUILDFORD - 10% off purchases over £20 except
for Koga Miyata cycles and special offers.
ASHPLANTS, WOKING - 10% off all bikes, with the exception of 'Star
Lines' and those already discounted - first class repair and after sales
services - wheelbuilding - large stock of general accessories at competitive
prices.
If you have a local dealer who is willing to offer CTC members
special terms let me have the details in concise form - preferably written
by the dealer himself or at least signed by him.
WHAT A TURN OUT - Sunday April 4th - the Intermediate had so many
riders (29) that it split into three sections (including one for new riders)
- the General had five out, the Wayfarers about the same and Chris Jeggo's
Family Section a further 11 including the children and Tony Price.
It must surely be the first time that attendance has reached 50 on a normal
Sunday - tea was at the 'Packs'' - they were a little surprised but coped
wonderfully well.
| SAUSAGE SHAPED SUPPER SOCIAL - Saturday June 5th - if you can't
attend for all the boat trip and feast, then come along afterwards - the
bar will re-open about 9.30 pm.
The DA has been benefitting from some EXCELLENT TEAS at members' homes - I have been asked to pass on the thanks of those who have enjoyed them. There will be a SPONSORED RIDE for solos and tandems on June 27th in aid of the White Lodge Spastic Centre, Holloway Hill, Chertsey. Start at White Lodge 9.45am, lunch at Holyport tea at White Lodge (50p) together with the rest of the DA. Details from Gillian Smith (Woking 61294). Sunday 6th June - 'STONEHENGE AND BACK' 200KM Audax event - details
from Ray Craig (Tadley 6867). Sunday 4th July - 100 MILE RELIABILITY
RIDE - attractive course - further details from Benstead Cup leaflet.
