So far as this website is concerned, 'archives' means the reproduction in electronic form of ephemeral material that already exists on paper.  The easiest way to do this is to scan the originals and make them available as images.  This has two disadvantages:

1. image files are much bigger than text files so they require more storage and download more slowly, and
2. more importantly, image files are not searchable, so search engines like Google can't help you find the stuff that interests you.

'History' means a story, a narrative, an account written with the benefit of hindsight, capturing the important aspects and leaving out details that now seem unimportant.  Writing history takes much longer:  assembling source material, digesting it, prioritising it, turning it into decent prose, and asking others to review or proof-read it.
