Ballards Brewery, at Nyewood, open from 1000 to 1230.
Went to Haslemere by car instead of train because of engineering works. The South Downs were looking great thanks to sunshine and blue sky. Refreshed ourselves at the brewery, the Elsted Inn and the Keepers Arms, Trotton. |

If that’s too much, you could park at Shalford Park (at 7 miles, free on Sundays I think), Shalford Green (Chinthurst Lane, 8 mi), a lay-by on A281 between Smithbrook Kilns and Alfold Crossways (3 or 4 to choose from, ~14 mi) or just S of Loxwood, car park opposite the Kirdford and Wisborough Green fork (20 mi). Reckon on a 13 mph schedule from Woking. |

It was too warm for anything other than pootling through the lanes taking it all in. Good tea, as always, at Hector’s at Farncombe Boat House. |
