"This year -- many -- of fever (or fevers?) -- perish -- evil."
[There were no circumflex accents in the Latin I learnt.]
1715. "Hoc anno in mense Martio [i.e., 1716 new style] ignea
Meteoria visa mirabilia in Aore apparebant." This year in the month
of March burning meteors, wonderful sights, appeared in ??. [I
cannot
find Aor... in any Latin dictionary in my local library. Possibly
"in Aurae" (in the air) or "in Aurorae" (in the east).]
"Vigesimo secundo die Aprilis fuit totalis Eclipsis Solis, & multa
Stella conspiciebantur." "On the 22nd day of April there was a total
eclipse of the sun, and many stars were perceived."
