There are two churches in Bocking: St. Mary the Virgin is the ancient one. St. Peter-in-the-Fields originated in 1897 as a chapel of ease of the parish church of St. Mary; it was consecrated in June 1898.

Sometimes the first entry abstracted from each register is quoted in full, to give an example of the layout. Repetitive matter is omitted from subsequent entries from the same register.
