Reiki is a Japanese word, pronounced ‘Rey’ - ‘Key’, where ‘Rei’ means ‘universal’ and ‘ki’ means ‘energy’. This energy (or life-force) flows through all living things. Eastern medicine has always recognised and worked with this energy, which flows through all living things and is vital to well-being. Known as ‘ki’ in Japan, ‘chi’ in China and ‘prana’ in India. Acupuncture, T’ai chi and Yoga are also based on the free-flow of this energy in a person.

Reiki practitioners are simply channels for the energy to flow through. The energy is drawn by the recipient and directed to the area most needed. Healing can take place on any level of being (Physical, Emotional, Mental or Spiritual). No faith or belief is required.

Treatment is carried out fully clothed, usually lying on the couch or can be seated. The practitioner gently places their hands in a series of set positions on or near the body. Sensations may sometimes be experienced such as energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, or nothing at all.

The treatment usually takes an hour

Treatment is enhanced if you can rest for a while afterwards and drink plenty of water to help the body detox.,
