Sunday
20 th June. Helensburgh.
Sunday saw both
Williamwood bands back out on the competition circuit at Helensburgh,
following last weeks disappointment at Turriff. The venue
was slightly different and the competition was to take place
on concrete for the first time!
The grade four
band were on second in their grade at around two o’
clock. Although they were not delighted with their overall
performance they were optimistic of achieving a place on the
prizelist
As Williamwood
grade three were beginning to set-up for the grade three contest
there was a huge downpour, meaning a half hour break on the
bus! After the adverse weather passes the grade three band
continued to prepare for the competition. The band was fairly
pleased with its grade three performance and was optimistic
of getting a high placing. Soon after the grade three band
prepared to go into the grade two arena where again the band
gave a fairly good performance.
The march-past
confirmed what was to be a successful day for both the Williamwood
bands. The Grade four band achieved third place in only its
second full season competing. Congratulations to everybody
in the band! The Grade three band were awarded their first
victory of the season, with a first place from both the piping
and the drumming judge. In grade two, Williamwood were placed
fourth; the highest of the grade three bands!
Overall, despite
the bad weather, it was an enjoyable day for Williamwood Pipe
Band.
