Saturday 29th May. Bathgate Highland Games.

After a pleasing result last weekend in Dumbarton, this week we were through in Bathgate. Unlike Gourock, only the grade three band went through for the competition.

The draw had been made prior to Saturday and we were scheduled on second last in the open grade three competition. With a few pipers down for various reasons, it wasn't going to be an easy day. The cold and showery conditions on the day were not ideal but every band had this against them. Tuning up went fairly well, a few small tweaks to the pipes, and nothing much wrong with the drumming side of things.

As for the performance, we had a reasonable start and steady but not exceptional performance from the pipers. The drummers came of very pleased with their performance, especially the bass and tenor section which sounded superb.

We were awarded 6th place overall, with the drummers getting 8th which they felt a bit done by. However, we are looking forward to Shotts next weekend.
