Biographical Information
Innocent Ear was founded in 1998 by husband and wife team Chris and Anna
Burmajster.
Chris was born in London, England in 1957 and studied music at Dean Close School in Cheltenham where he won a Music Scholarship and at the
Purcell School in London before becoming interested in the engineering side of recording. After many years of learning his craft
on the London music scene, in 1987 he went to work for Decca at their London studios. He stayed there for ten years in the post-production department learning various post production skills whilst carrying on outside as a recording engineer. When the studios were closed in 1997 he decided both to combine his experience in recording, editing, producing and mastering and to offer an alternative to the majority of
recording companies that use multi-mic techniques. He is a full member of the Audio Engineering Society.
Apart from a passion for classical music, Chris's other interests include the
cinema, home cinema and classic Citroens.
Anna
was born in Yerevan, Armenia, and trained as a philologist at Yerevan
University. After a stint as a researcher with Armenian Radio & TV, she
emigrated to England, where she worked as producer for the BBC's Russian service
at Bush House in London. In addition to helping run Innocent Ear, she works in
Pall Mall, London. Interests include a passion for classical literature,
a philistine taste for classical music, a penchant for weird foreign films and
an insatiable appetite for travelling.
