BLACK ANNIS WOMEN'S MORRIS

Songs and Music

Black Annis is fortunate in that a number of its dancers are also musicians, notably Stephanie and Mary on melodeon; Karen on fiddle, Mal and Judy on whistle (Mal also, all too rarely, delights us with her saxophone playing). We are also fortunate for the big occasions to have as a special guest, also on melodeon, “the muscles from Brussels” Sue Swift.

Black Annis have their own, superior, female equivalent to Tom Lehrer, Judy Hardman, who has written a number of fabulous songs, which we famously (or infamously) sing inviting all and sundry to join in. Impromptu performances have been held in buses, on canal boats, public houses and on the camp site at festivals.
