Bjarne Pedersen
at the Press & Practice Day
Monday 13th March 2006
A season which promised so much, with three of the best three 'young' riders in the World lining up as heat leaders. Yet inconsistent performances from most of the team (Pedersen excluded), injuries (Kasprzak suffering a broken collarbone three times in two months), and absences (Lindback missing a crucial run of 6 matches in a 10-day spell to have treatment for tonsillitis (I think), in-between GPs so didn't miss one) meant the full 1-7 rarely paraded at the same time. And to cap it all, Lindback then 'withdrew' for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury at Belle Vue, only to "risk" further injury by appearing at the last GP of the season, then riding in Sweden in the first week of October in Tony Rickardsson's Farewell. Like an increasing number of Swedes who show scant commitment for the British Elite League, I'm sure Lindback will not be welcomed back to Wimborne Road in 2007.
The highlight of the season was the form of 39 year-old Craig Boyce. Many were surprised at the Poole stalwart's inclusion at the start of the season, but Boycie rolled back the years and put in many memorable performance, not least a 13 point haul in the KO Cup Semi Final against Belle Vue.
The promoters have promised changes and at the time of writing, have stated that only Pedersen has a tgeam place for 2007.
