Poole lined up without Craig Boyce for only the 2nd time in ten seasons. Average restrictions prevented the Pirates from retaining the previous years winning team and late contract dealings by both Boyce and Jason Crump meant only one could be accommodated. Boyce spent the season on loan to Swindon.
This season could not live up to the highs of 1994, though one highlight was the testimonial year for Steve Schofield.
