The failure of Marvyn Cox and the Poole Management to agree terms left Poole fielding a guest for the first half of the season. Despite occasionally decent guest returns, the team struggled. The late signing of John Cook failed to improve overall performance, though the debut season for Lars Gunnestaad was one of few highlights.
Former Pirate Sam Ermolenko finally became World Champion and proudly displayed the trophy at Poole the following week.
