A shake-up during the Winter gave Poole the opportunity to join the new 'first division', the Sunbrite League. Unfortunately the transfer of Craig Boyce to Oxford, also in the Sunbrite League) had already been finalised early in the close season. The new team was built around Marvyn Cox, two former National League heat leaders Steve Schofield and Mick Poole, and four of the previous season's Pirates.
