The SE of Crete is naturally beautiful with mountains forming a dramatic backdrop to quiet coves and sparkling clear waters.  There is something for everyone from sunworshippers to the more active and adventurous.  SE Crete is not yet discovered by the mass tour operators so you are likely to have the beach to yourself and the locals are always pleased to meet you.

Bay view is 1km from Makrygialos, SE Crete.  It's about 2 hours from Heraklion airport by car and it's worth stopping off at lovely Agios Nikolaos which is about half way.

Detailed directions are provided upon booking.

We can recommend the beaches (Makrygialos, Diaskari, Petras, Lagufa) which have gently shelving sands and are good for snorkelling.  The Travernas in Makrygialos look over a beautiful shallow beach ideal for kids.

Pervoulakia Gorge starts beside Moni Kapsa and is a dramatic walk through rugged mountain scenery.

Makrygialos town has plenty of restaurants and bars along the sea front plus supermarkets and a market on Friday.
