It's generally quiet and unspoilt and rewards explorers yet there are enough shops and amenities to buy everything you need. "Makrygialos" means long beech and the area is known for its quiet beeches and dramatic unspoilt  scenery that will appeal to those looking for a get-away-from-it-all break or a family holiday.  The beeches are very clean and there are many deserted coves to explore.

	Families The enclosed site is in a quiet location and ideal for children to make friends and explore.  The accommodation is on one level and you can keep an eye on the pool from the shade of the pergola.
Making a difference The architect (Konstantinos) has done a great job of blending modern materials with traditional Cretan style.  The building materials are sourced locally so it looks like part of the landscape and the methods used include heavy insulation and solid walls to keep it cool, quiet and minimise the air-conditioning.  The gardens and open spaces have local plants and herbs (feel free to try them).  To minimise water usage, toilets all have half-flush facility.  Being self-catering we encourage visitors to sample the local produce (olive oil is a speciality) and nearby restaurants.  The area is undiscovered by mass tourism so the beaches are pristine, the roads are quiet and the infrastructure can cope.  Bayview is staffed by local people and the activities we promote are all locally owned, low impact on the environment, highly memorable.
