Taken from Forum Eagle Travel have made a coach available for travel to Woking. There is the possibility of different pick up/drop off points in Stafford but this will be confirmed later. The cost will be £10 per head for the first 52 supporters, then £12 after this for the following 20. If we get more than 70 booked Eagle will make some more provision and this will be updated. There are no provisions for Super Stripes/Stripes discount as the fair is ridiculously cheap anyway and this is a separate initiative by Eagle Travel. To book, phone Eagle Travel on 01785 220777 and they will take your details. Departure time not confirmed but I would suggest somewhere between 10-11am. BOOK EARLY TO AVOID MISSING OUT!

The cost is £15 per head (payable with booking). To book contact Mike Hughes or Ken Hunt at the ground. Tel 01785 602430 or 602431

PRESS RELEASE RE GROUND IMPROVEMENTS - FLOODLIGHTS
Quote from Stafford Rangers Commercial Manager - Ken Hunt
" Stafford Rangers are extremely pleased to receive this grant from the
F.S.I.F. It has become normal for the Fund to make 50% grants, but we were
able to negotiate a 65% grant towards the replacement floodlights. We are
making great strides towards Conference Football and this announcement is a
very welcome boost. We have had Planning permission for some time now for
both replacement floodlights and ground developments. We applied for this
grant in isolation because it is the one stumbling block in achieving ground
grading for the Conference. The remaining work on stands and terracing can
be done later if we are promoted. Grants of up to £150,000 are available in
any period of 3 years in the Nationwide Conference North, but this increases
to £400,000 if we achieve promotion. This £50,000 grant represents 65% of
the cost of replacement lights and we still have to find an additional
£25,000. We need the supporters, more than ever now to support us through
the turnstiles and through our other fund raising ventures, the Gold Bond
Lottery, the match day Golden Gamble, and the Christmas Draw and Social
events."
Quote from Stafford Rangers Chairman - Jon Downing
" Stafford Rangers Football Club are very grateful to have received this
grant from the F.S.I.F. Everyone at the Club is working extremely hard to
try and achieve success this season and this is a tremendous boost for us. I
hope that we can continue to move forward both on and off the field. I would
also like to appeal to our loyal supporters for their help in achieving our
goal of Conference Football next season".
FROM THE FOOTBALL STADIA IMPROVEMENT FUND
BOOST FOR STAFFORD RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB
The Football Stadia Improvement Fund, supporters of the Football Foundation,
and the largest funder of non league football in the country, today
announced a grant of £50,625 to Stafford Rangers Football Club .
This award will enable the club to replace its floodlight system.
Over £80m has already been invested by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund
since its launch in July 2000, funding lower league ground improvements
throughout professional and amateur game, creating a safe and modern
environment for fans and players to enjoy the game.
Peter Lee, Chief Executive of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and
Football Foundation, welcomed this latest funding initiative:
"On behalf of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund I am delighted to be able
to award this grant to Stafford Rangers Football Club.
A vibrant community team is vital for the future of football. The Football
Stadia Improvement Fund's aim is to revolutionise funding for the grass
roots in the same way the professional game has been transformed over the
last 10 years. It is vital for the survival of clubs outside the
professional game that this investment continues. I pay a particular tribute
to the hard work and dedication all at the club for making this funding a
reality."

Stafford Rangers determination to strengthen the Board in advance of the new season and provide additional experience, investment and new blood continues this week with the decision to appoint a new main board director. David Montgomery, a 47 year-old businessman was unanimously appointed to the Board last Tuesday. David is Staffordshire born and bred, a family man with two teenage sons and has lived in the county town for over 30 years. He brings to Marston Road a wealth of management, organisational and financing experience having previously been Joint Managing Director of the Finance Division of GUS Plc, owners of local employers Argos. He is enthusiastic about his involvement with Rangers and comments, “I am delighted and proud to join the Rangers board. The club has a long tradition and I would like to play a part in taking Rangers to another level. In order to achieve this we first need to ensure that we have a stable, focused and structured board with a clear strategy that is communicated effectively to the fans and everyone associated with the club. It is going to be an exciting season and we will be doing everything we can behind the scenes to make it a good one”. Top League Goal Scorer Joins Stafford Rangers
Peter Thompson signed for Stafford Rangers Football Club this week for an undisclosed fee. 28 year old, 6'3", Thompson, scored 28 goals in 24 appearances during his first spell at Lancaster City in the Unibond Premier League. Beginning his career at Bury he went on to play for Chorley and Lancaster City before being enticed to the European Mainland to play for Dutch First Division side NAC Breda for a fee of c£25,000. Thompson then moved back to English football with a transfer to Luton Town for a reputed £100,000. He moved on to Southport and last season was again with Lancaster City. Thompson appeared in both matches against Stafford Rangers last season. Both the Board of Directors and Player Manager, Phil Robinson, welcome this important addition to our First team squad. Peter will fill the long searched for vacancy of an additional class act striker to accompany Neil Grayson, which is needed if Rangers are to fulfil their ambitious 2005/2006 targets
