Winston Cup Champion
Dale wins his first Championship although he was chased right down to the last race of the season. He scored an incredible 21 top 10 finishes. He just missed out on making in a double with the Daytona 500 when he was 2nd.

2. Jeff Gordon - Wins: 2 Top5: 14 Top10: 19 Poles: 2
Last years Champion was only a whisker away from making it two in a row. He had another good season, but still walked away with nothing apart from two wins.

3. Rusty Wallace - Wins: 1 Top5: 12 Top10: 17 Poles: 1
Rusty drove well to end up 3rd overall in the standings. But he must be disappointed with only one win all year and will want to pick up some silverware next year.

4. Bobby Hamilton - Wins: 5 Top5: 13 Top10: 16 Poles: 0
Charlotte Crown Jewel Winner
An excellent season for Bobby who knocked up an amazing 5 wins including the Crown Jewel event at Charlotte and just missed out for the race winners award. He was very close all year for the Championship and will want to go slightly better in the next campaign.

5. Sterling Marlin - Wins: 1 Top5: 6 Top10: 13 Poles: 0
A good season for Sterling although he did not meet the heights he found last year. He was a fair way behind 4th place in the Championship and he will need to get more top 5 finishes.

6. John Andretti - Wins: 3 Top5: 3 Top10: 11 Poles: 0
Not many people expected him to finish so high in the standings, but he drove well and recorded 3 race wins too. He even managed 5th place in the Daytona 500 and things are going well for John.

7. Dick Trickle - Wins: 1 Top5: 6 Top10: 11 Poles: 0
Dick did very well to complete the season in the top 10 of the standings. A 4th place at the Daytona 500 should give him plenty of confidence for next year.

8. Dale Jarrett - Wins: 1 Top5: 7 Top10: 13 Poles: 3
Talladega Crown Jewel Winner
A very good season for Dale who improved his overall placing and won the Talladega Crown Jewel race. He could be a challenger for next years Championship title.

9. Derrike Cope - Wins: 0 Top5: 2 Top10: 10 Poles: 0
This was one of the surprise packages of the year. He did not manange any poles or wins, but to get into the top 10 of the standings is a great result, especially when it was not expected.

10. Terry Labonte - Wins: 1 Top5: 2 Top10: 11 Poles: 0
Darlington Crown Jewel Winner
Terry won his first race this year and he chose a great event to do it, the Darlington Crown Jewel race. He made a fantastic improvement this year and should look to continue the momentum next season.

11. Bobby labonte - Wins: 1 Top5: 5 Top10: 9 Poles:0>
This series turned out to be a bit of a let down for Bobby as he dropped out of the top 10 in the standings. He will be looking to get back to his old ways as quickly as possible.

12. Ricky Rudd - Wins: 0 Top5: 5 Top10: 11 Poles: 0
Consistent racing has kept Ricky high in the standings for another season, but he should try to get that first win under his belt as soon as possible.

13. Geoff Bodine - Wins: 1 Top5: 9 Top10: 10 Poles: 5
Geoff had another stunning year in terms of qualifying, but he could not convert this front row starts into results. He still has a lot to offer as his speed has demonstrated, but he will need to convert it into more points.

14. Ernie Irvan - Wins: 1 Top5: 6 Top10: 12 Poles: 4
The team expected Ernie to be challenging for the title again this year but for various reasons it just did not happen. He did manage 4 poles, 1 win and was runner-up in the All-Star race, but it will not take away the fact that he was well outside the top 10 in the standings.

15. Morgan Shephard - Wins: 0 Top5: 1 Top10: 5 Poles: 0
It was amazing that Morgan was able to finish so high in the standings with only one top 5 placing. If he can worka little bit harder he could be pushing for the top 10 very soon.

16. Mark Martin - Wins: 2 Top5: 6 Top10: 12 Poles: 1
Daytona 500 Winner
Mark would have had a very dismal year if it had not been for the fact that he won the Daytona 500. His 16th position in the standings was a big letdown, even more so as he won two races. He will want to get on top of his car problems before the start of next season.

17. Michael Waltrip - Wins: 0 Top5: 4 Top10: 8 Poles: 0
Michaels form has slipped since last year and he will want to stop the decline as soon as possible as he sees himself now well outside the top 10.

18. Jimmy Spencer - Wins: 0 Top5: 2 Top10: 8 Poles: 0
A much improved season here as he scored his first top 5 finishes and moved well up in the season standings.

19. Bill Elliott - Wins: 0 Top5: 3 Top10: 7 Poles: 0
Bill was once again consistent with his previous form as he jsut about kept in the top 20 but this year was very much missing that vital win.

20. Mike Skinner - Wins: 0 Top5: 3 Top10: 6 Poles: 0
A very good showing for this seasons Rookie of the Year. Not only did he manage to get into the top 20 he also had 3 top 5s and should look to go even better next year.

21. Ricky Craven - Wins: 0 Top5: 2 Top10: 6 Poles: 0
Ricky surprised a lot of people last year with a victory and some very good runs but this year he went hardly unnoticed, so he should look to start hitting the front again.

22. Steve Grissom - Wins: 0 Top5: 1 Top10: 5 Poles: 0
This is a driver that is slowly slipping down the standings and he must act now if he wants a leading ride in the future.

23. Jeff Burton - Wins: 0 Top5: 2 Top10: 6 Poles: 0
A good improvement here and hopefulyl is a sign of things to come. Some top runs and next year he should be looking to at least break the top 20 if not go even higher.

24. Joe Nemechek - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 5 Poles: 0
Although a slight improvement here, he must be disappointed that he did not crack the top 5 in races all year. That has to be something that he must do if he wants to catch peoples eyes.

25. Chickster - Wins: 6 Top5: 7 Top10: 8 Poles: 9
All-Star Race Winner
A huge improvement from the Chickster as he took most wins and most poles along with a win in the All-Star race. But a driver with results such as these should not be languishing down here in the standings and he must find some consistency and finish more races. All the prospects of a real front runner here but he must look avoid those silly accidents which have spoilt an otherwise good season.

26. Kyle Petty - Wins: 0 Top5: 1 Top10: 4 Poles: 0
A disaster in terms of a season from a Petty. After a race win last year, Kyle has dropped away and only managed one top 5. He really must come back with a huge effort next year.

27. Darrell Waltrip - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 3 Poles: 0 Although nearing the end of his career the fans still expect a lot from this driver. Sadly this year he was not able to deliver much but he was consistent enough to still manage this high in the standings.

28. Brett Bodine - Wins: 0 Top5: 3 Top10: 3 Poles: 0
Another driver in decline who should be higher in the table. He did manage 3 top 5s but should be looking to gain some more places next year.

29. Ted Musgrave - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 3 Poles: 0
Ted was nowhere near the form he showed last year and this has got to be a shock. For whatever reason he must find the answer now or he is going to struggle to find a drive.

30. Jeremy Mayfield - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 1 Poles: 0
A pretty good season for the rookie just making it into the top 30, he will be hoping to get into the top5 finishes and move up the standings.

31. Randy Lajoie - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 1 Poles: 0
Nothing notable from Randy who should have done more to get himself noticed. He will be sweating on getting a ride for next year.

32. Ward Burton - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 1 Poles: 0
Only a slight improvement here and he should have aimed higher. A pretty similar record to last season so next year he will want to make his mark.

33. Robby Gordon - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 1 Poles: 0
An average season for another rookie driver who will want to build upon this season next year.

34. Mike Wallace - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 0 Poles: 0
A dismal season for this driver who will struggle to make it into next years races after two seasons without muc outstanding.

35. Kenny Irwin Jr. - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 0 Poles: 0
This driver was tipped to pick up a few results but it just did not seem to happen this year. Still young, he has time to work his way forward.

36. Rick Mast - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 1 Poles: 0 Another driver who did not manage to build upon his efforts from the previous season and will struggle to get another ride.

37. Johnny Benson - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 0 Poles: 0
A poor show from this rookie with no good results to show for his seasons work but he may be lucky and get another chance.

38. Ken Schrader - Wins: 0 Top5: 0 Top10: 1 Poles: 0
Only one top 10 finish for this fading veteran who has sunk to the depths of the standings. He may be offered another drive but he will have to wait and hope.

39. Kenny Wallace - Wins: 0 Top5: 1 Top10: 1 Poles: 0
Although he managed one top 10 finish it was not enough to keep him off the bottom of the standings and this is a fact that may see him miss out next year.
