The Tydeman Family
in
Earl Stonham & district, Suffolk, UK

The early generations of my own Tydeman lineage have been difficult to establish. The family can readily be traced back to Edmund who, from census records and his age recorded at his death, was born in Earl Stonham in 1789. Edmund received schooling and his signature on his own marriage certificate and as a witness to Lemon Tydeman's marriage suggests that he was probably the latter's brother. This identifies the link to the rest of the Tydeman family as shown in the Tydeman data page.

II have recently been studying the Tydeman families who emmigrated to Australia in the 19th century. The first results of this can be found at the link below.

The photograph here shows the beautiful roof of Earl Stonham parish church. This has been described by the historian Pevsner as one of the most magnificent in Suffolk. Many generations of the Tydeman family were baptised, married and buried beneath this roof and several grave -stones canstill be found in the church yard

Acknowledgement: I would like to thank Bill Tydeman, Peter Wyant, Mary MacFarlane, Beryl Hudson and others for data, valuable discussion and other help in my research.
