Jageshwar is an important temple town
located in the Uttaranchal Himalayan region of India. Here you can stay in a local
family's guest house and experience authentic Kumaon hospitality and
cuisine. The area around Jageshwar offers
amazing views of the snow-capped
Himalayan range around
Nanda Devi, and great
trekking within the forested foothills. All payments are made by yourself
direct to local people on arrival/departure, ensuring money remains in the
locality, rather than with external travel agencies.

Tara Guest House has commanding views of the temple at Jageshwar and is in a peaceful location a few minutes walk from the
road. It is run by Mahesh and his father who live nearby in Gotura
village and work in Jageshwar town.

Jageshwar is 45km from Almora in the Kumaon region of
Uttaranchal, India. There is one bus daily from Almora at about 12pm.
Taxi's can be shared or privately booked throughout the day.
Almora can be reached from Delhi directly by state
buses and one private bus (10 hours).
The nearest rail is at Kathgodam with 2 trains
from Delhi (8 hours). It is easier to alight at Haldwani to make bus and
taxi connections to Almora (3 hours). |
