Proposal Details
The
following information is taken from West Coast Energy’s planning application
documentation.
It is proposed to build:
· 4 x 2.5MW turbine generators
· Each with a height of 102 metres (335 feet)
· Each with a rotor diameter of 84 metres (276 feet)
· The base of each turbine tower is 4 metres (over 13
feet)
· In the base of each tower, there will be a
transformer that will boost the voltage from 690 volts to 33,000 volts (33kV)
· The foundations proposed for the turbines are an
inverted ‘T’, in section consisting of
a reinforced central concrete pedestal,
4.75 metres (15.8 feet) square
· The maximum intended depth of the foundations is 3
metres (10 feet)
· Due to old mine working voids, it may also be
necessary to stabilise the ground with techniques such as piling and grouting
· The nearest dwelling will be 550m away from the
turbines
· The nearest house in Carsington Village will be 650m
away from the turbines
· Predicted noise levels in Carsington village are
37.5dB (rural night time background noise can be around 20dB)

Maps:
Two site location
maps are shown below, the second one shows a satellite view of the area on which you can clearly see how close these planned turbines would be to private homes and farmsteads

The map below shows 5Km and 10Km distances from the
proposed windfarm site
showing their visual impact
across the surrounding countryside.
In this diagram, the blue shaded areas indicate locations from
which all
four of the turbines will be visible.
