Pea Pod Wine

This I started on 13 July 2002 following a recipe I found on Jack Keller's excellent site

Day 1

If you have already read the nettle page and were put off by my reports of the smell then I would recommend you avoid this one as it smells even worse and doesn't improve nearly so quickly!

Day 7

Fermenting well but very cloudy... almost milky looking. Moved into the secondary fermentation vessel. I will now leave it alone until fermentation has finished! However long it takes!

Day 23

Checked the specific gravity which read .990 so just to make sure I stabilised!

Day 26

Nowhere near clear but just out of interest thought I would sample some to see how it was going. I also persuaded my hubby to have a try and when he'd finished pulling strange faces he described the taste as "rancid cat"!!! How he'd know is beyond me but I have to admit it tasted awful!

Added approx a teaspoonful of sugar to half a standard glass of wine and that made it much more palatable so have added about 1lb of sugar to the gallon I made and will leave it alone...

Believe me, it can only improve!!

Day 42

This is now sorbated and sweetened and has been sat untouched for a month in the demijohn...

Nothing seems to have happened at all..no clearing from the top nothing.... will keep waiting!
