Armour Rebuild

Up

This page is to document my attempt at rebuilding some very badly damaged Edo period Japanese armour.

The intent is to end up with wearable armour for re-enactment / LRP use. No looking at high level samurai armour, the aim is to achieve something that might be worn by a low-ranked samurai or a senior ashigaru with somewhat mismatched parts.

Due to the wear and tear that can be expected from regular use the peripheral regions of the armour - arms and legs will be modern replica parts.

Do

As received it's a bit of a mess. There's been the start of an attempt to repair it, but not much was been done. Suffers from seriously rotted lacing and worn / damaged lacquer. The large rivet head on the front is a very strange item that will have to go.

Kabuto

Although suffering a little from rust the kabuto is in much better condition than the do. The shikoro does not seem to match the main body, but it suits the effect I'm looking for. Suffers from seriously rotted lacing and worn / damaged lacquer.
