Video of the match:- A Central camera was at the game to record a goals
report voiced by Dennis Coath. BBC may also have had a camera in the gantry
as there was apparently a report shown on BBC South's version of the local
news*.
*I think this was a few years before ITV and the BBC
came to an agreement to allow eachother's footage to be shown with a dubbed
soundtrack.

Up
the Maggies footnote:
This fixture was originally scheduled for Saturday 14th
April 1984 but was postponed due to Southampton's FA Cup Semi-final involvement
(they lost 1-0 to Everton). Although we didn't know it at the time, this
was to be our last chance to see Trevor Christie, Gordon Mair and John
Chiedozie play for Notts (although Chiedozie would later make one further
appearance for the Magpies towards the very end of his career in 1990).
It was a strange night at the Lane because many of us Notts fans didn't
want County to win, the reason being that whilst Notts had nothing left
to play for (other than pride), Southampton would snatch the runners-up
spot away from Forest if they were to get a result. Trevor Christie scored
the Notts goal by heading in Ian McParland's cross at the Kop end. I'm
sure there was a pervading sense of sadness among the crowd at watching
the last of three season's worth of fixtures in the top flight, although
personally (having only become a supporter during the 2nd season) I was
very much looking forward to seeing some new teams in the old 2nd Division
(including Manchester City and Leeds United) and I anticipated a promotion
challenge next season, County's track record in the 2nd Division throughout
the 1973-81 period certainly did not suggest that we should have expected
another relegation battle.
