Up
the Maggies footnote:
This match had originally been scheduled to take place
three days earlier, but it was post-poned due to Notts FA Cup 5th round
home tie with Middlesbrough (Spurs had the day off). There were almost
10,000 less people in the ground than there had been on the Saturday to
see Notts finally keep their first home league clean sheet of the season,
but sadly we couldn't score at the other end. A point at home to Spurs
would normally have been a decent result, but we were now beyond desperate
for a win. Spurs no.7 had won a World cup winners medal with Argentina
in 1978 whilst their no.10 (considered by many to be England's most gifted
midfielder of the period) later managed England in the 1998 World Cup finals
but was forced to resign the following year after stating his belief that
people born with disabilities were reaping bad karma from a previous life.
