Up
the Maggies footnote:
The Hammers were missing three of their biggest star
names; Trevor Brooking, Billy Bonds and Alan Devonshire. Justin Fashanu
was making his debut for Notts and he had a goal disallowed. "Match" weekly
magazine rated Fashanu as County's man of the match whilst West Ham 'keeper
Phil Parkes was given 9/10 - so Notts must have forced some good saves
out of him. My abiding memory of the afternoon is of my feet turning to
blocks of ice on the terraces (even though I was wearing Doc Martens),
I could barely walk back to the cattle market car park afterwards. Notts
lost to West Ham again only 3 days later in a League Cup 4th round replay.
The Hammers no.11 later played for Notts as captain.
