Up
the Maggies footnote:
This was the first Notts match I ever went to. I stood
at the front of the County Road stand towards the Kop peering through the
hooligan proof perimeter fence. I remember the Liverpool fans starting
up a chant of "We hate Nottingham Forest, we hate Forest too...." and an
elderly County fan behind me said (in a very matter-of-fact broad Scottish
accent) "Everybody hates Nottingham Forest!". So although I had come to
see Liverpool that day, I realised I was in very good company in the home
stand amongst people who disliked Forest as much as I did. I was back at
Meadow Lane for all but two of County's remaining home league matches that
season.
