Up
the Maggies footnote:
This victory secured County's return to the top flight
after an absence of 55 years. Notts still had one re-arranged fixture to
play the following week. The match at Stamford Bridge was held up for 15
minutes soon after Notts went 2-0 in front as Chelsea fans invaded the
pitch to demonstrate against their Chairman. There was another protest
at the final whistle which resulted in the crossbar at the Shed end being
broken.
