Fred Pickering put England ahead on 7, Jimmy Greaves then netted a hat-trick in the space of around 12 minutes, his first on 15, a 2nd on 24 and he made it 4-0 to the visitors on 27. Northern Ireland staged a 2nd half fight back through Sammy Wilson on 52 and two goals from Jimmy McLaughlin on 55 and 75.

*Scottish TV showed highlights on "Scotsport" at 5:25-5:45pm and 9:50-10:25pm, BBC1 Scotland also showed highlights at 10:40-11:30pm (including golf), BBC1 Wales showed the action on "Soccer Special" at 11:05-11:30pm. Four Scottish players made their debuts in this match, Jimmy Johnstone and Stevie Chalmers of Celtic, Ron Yeats of Liverpool and (for his only cap) James Robertson of Spurs. Wyn Davies put Wales ahead on 6, debut boy Chalmers equalised on 28 and Dave Gibson then put Scotland ahead a minute later on 29. The Scots looked to be heading to victory until Kenneth Leek struck twice for Wales in the last 3 minutes, netting the equaliser on 87 and making it 3-2 on 89.

Alan Hinton made his 3rd and final appearance for England, it was also the end of international duty for Mike Bailey (his 2nd appearance), whilst Gerry Young won his only cap.

*Scottish and Ulster showed highlights on "Scotsport" at 10:25-11:10pm. Hearts' Willie Wallace made his debut for Scotland, but two other international careers would be cut short - goalkeeper Robert Forsyth (4 caps) and James Kennedy (6 caps). All five goals were scored in the opening half-hour; George Best put the visitors ahead on 9 but only for Davie Wilson to equalise a minute later on 10, Alan Gilzean then put Scotland ahead on 16, Willie Irvine levelled it again at 2-2 on 18, Wilson netted what turned out to be the winner on 30.

*BBC1 N.Ireland showed highlights at 11:05-11:35pm (FA Cup Special followed), but no coverage was scheduled for Wales. Two goals by Roy Vernon and one each from Cliff Jones, Graham Williams and Ivor Allchurch gave Wales a 5-0 away win.

*Scottish showed highligths on "Scotsport" at 10:10-11:05pm, BBC1 also showed highlights on "Sports Special" at 10:55-11:25pm. Nobby Stiles, Jack Charlton and Barry Bridges made their England debut's, but this auld-enemy clash was memorable for Scotland coming back from 2-0 down. Bobby Charlton put England ahead on 24, Jimmy Greaves made it 2-0 on 34, Denis Law pulled one back before HT on 40, Ian St John (in what turned out to be his 21st and final appearance in a Scotland shirt) equalised on 59. Chelsea's Eddie McCreadie made his Scotland debut.

This was the last international appearance for Scotland's Dave Mackay.

There were Scotland debuts for Kilmarnock goalkepper Robert Ferguson, Dundee's Charlie Cook and James Forrest of Rangers. Scotland went ahead through Bobby Murdoch on 11, Ivor Allchurch equalised on 14, Willie Henderson restored the Scots lead a minute later on 15, Murdoch made it 3-1 on 21, John Greig got the 4th on 86.

*This match was shown live in the Scottish and Grampian regions as part of "Scotsport Hampden Special" from 1:00pm, the programme showed boxing and wrestling before joining Hampden at 2:45pm. BBC1 SCOTLAND also showed the match live. Scotland had to win to share the championship with Northern Ireland, England needed a victory to win the trophy outright. Geoff Hurst put England ahead on 18, Roger Hunt made it 2-0 to the visitors on 34, Denis Law pulled one back on 41 for a 1-2 HT scoreline. Hunt restored England's two goal advantage at the start on the 2nd half on 47, Willie Johnston pulled another back for Scotland on 57, Bobby Charlton made it 4-2 to England on 73 and finally Johnston got Scotland's 3rd goal on 81 (their 150th v England). Saturday night highlights were most likely included on "Scotsport" (Scottish region only) at 9:25-9:55pm and BBC1 Scotland's "Sportsreel" (10:20-10:45pm). English viewers had to wait until Sunday afternoon when ABC, ATV, Westward, Southern, Tyne Tees, Border and TWW showed highlights at 2:45-3:20pm and Anglia at 4:40-5:15pm (apparently taking STV's coverage with Cameron's commentary). BBC1 also showed Sunday afternoon highlights at 2:55-3:45pm.
