Portraiture is one of Daniel's main areas of painting specialisation. He has drawn influence from historical Artists such as Vermeer and Sargent, as well as more recent painters like Lucian Freud. He strives to bring the personality of the sitter to life through the use of light.

Daniel usually works using photos either supplied by the client or taken during a consultation. During a consultation period he likes to discover a little about the individual featuring in the work. Speaking to them directly if possible. He then sketches and composes the portrait.
