This includes the Village of Comrie, St. Fillans (Portmore), The Ross, Dalginross, the Breadalbane region and those families that emigrated to Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Other settlements in around Comrie include Balmuik, Lurg, Carroglen, Kingarth, Glaslarich, Tighnacroy, Balmenoch, Tighnasithe, Fintalich, Balnadalloch, Balnacoul, Croftwhannel, Coishevachan, Innergeldie, Daden, Glenmaik, Bovaine, Keplandie, Bowalker (all located in Glen Lednock). Other crofting areas or settlements include Garrichrew, Balna, Lechkin, Easter and Wester Glentarken, Derry, Tullybannocher, Woodend. Other regions of Scotland where they migrated to in Scotland include Alloa and Port of Monteith, although some of the families that originated in Comrie went to Glasgow, Edinburgh, England, Canada, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. I am researching those families from the settlements mentioned above and I am presently revising the 1924 book, "Donald Carmichael and his Descendants" and would like to contact any descendant of the above before the revision is published. He was imprisoned by the British and sent on the prison ship GILDART on May 5,1747 from Liverpool to America. He arrived August 5, 1747. I noticed some Carmichael-Crighton/Creighton marriages and wonder if they could be connected with my missing Scottish Highlander ancestor.e

Forth was built as the miners rows were demolished at Wilsontown (1 mile away) to house the miners. Earlier, Wilsontown was one of the biggest Iron-works in Scotland. My great grandfather was Charles Carmichael who had 13 children (5 set's of twins). Is there any relations hidden out there i don't know about or have lost touch with? My grandfather was Thomas Carmichael, also known as meek, and my father was Robert Carmichael(Buck). hopefully my son, Lewis(he's only 4), will give us more Carmichael's, to make sure our line never dies out. It's great to know there are so many of us out there.

His father's name was Solomon Carmichael. Solomon was married twice. Not sure which wife Mathias came from: Sarah Grubbs whom he married in 1812 in Stokes County NC and Elizabeth Redmiller Aug 12th 1841 in Greene County Indiana. Mathias was married 3 times. 3 wives names: 1st wife: Amanda Hall 1866, 2nd wife: Mary Jane Stanley 1880 and third wife: Nancy Melinda Fields Ross 1913 and He (Mathias was 72 yrs of age at that time and Nancy was 30 yrs of age)And his only Grandaughter was Irma Carmichael Prettyman and she was my Great Aunt, my maternal Grandmother's sister and my Grandmother was Alice Carmichael and she had 2 daughters (Jean and Delorris) and Delorris is my MOM and I am her 2nd daughter. We are related to the southern Indiana Carmichaels that come up from Surry NC and Winston-Salem NC. I love learning about the Carmichaels and I have a cousin Michael Joseph Carmichael and he only lives a few miles from me, we are both in our 40's Michaels father was Joe Carmichael. My Great Grandmother Julia Alice Buher Carmichael, didn't believe in middle names. Joe was my Granma Alice Carmichael Boss's brother. Alice was the baby of 8 children born to William Marion and Alice J. Buher Carmichael. Hello from Indianapolis to all the Carmichaels, in all the counties!!!!!! I've been researching my family history and all I knew was that My ggrandmother's name was Mattie Field,and that her Mother was Nancy Jane Carmichael and Father was Simeon Fields. This came out of an old bible of my ggrandmother's. They lived in Geneva County,Alabama. Mattie Field married George Marshall Howell. Is it possible that this is the same Nancy Jane Carmichael,daughter of John Carmichael and Sarah Hayes. I just found this site and was surprised to see a Nancy Jane Carmichael and Simeon Field with a daughter named Mattie field born around the same time as my ggrandmother.Simeon is even spelled the same way.
