Carmichael Simonne, (simonne.carmichael@tecto.be) of: Antwerp Belgium at: Wed Dec 13 12:09:48 2000 I have just learned about this website and find it most exciting. All I know about my family is that my greatgrandfather came to Antwerp together with his brother. Unfortunately he was killed in an accident at a very young age, leaving behind hiw widow and his only son Ludovicus Carmichael, my grandfather. Apparently my greatgrandfather's brother had already returned to Scotland by that time (area of Lanark?). It appears my greatgrandmother was unable to get in touch with the family in Scotland. My father, Polydoor Carmichael, has 2 daughters (myself and my sister Martine). I suppose we are the only Carmichaels living in Belgium. signed: Simonne Carmichael, 13 December 2000
Wendy Christie, (ricwendy@nonline.net) of: Waterloo, Ontario at: Thu Dec 14 05:25:05 2000 This is a great site! I'm a Carmichael descended from the Cape Breton branch of the family. According to my info, Charles Carmichael (son of John), his wife Mary Miller and their two children Charles and Walter left Brannock (near Glasgow) in 1837, landing at Pictou, Nova Scotia and eventually settling at Georges River on the Bras D'or Lakes. I don't know of Charles' descendants or if there were other children. Walter was my great-grandfather. He married Hannah Cantley in about 1874 (+/- 2 years) and they had 7 children: Annie (Nan), Belle, Nellie, Harry, J. George (my grandfather), James (moved to the USA) and Jean. I hope this helps someone and if anyone knows of Charles' and Mary's other children and descendents, I would be interested to know.
