I am researching my great-great grandfather, George (?) Edwards. Believe he lived in Illinois prior to 1852. His son, William Wesley was born in Ray Conty Missouri in 1852. Don't know name of George's spouse. or William's siblings. A George came up on Family Treemaker, which led to your webpage. Appreciate any help.
Thanks. Louise Edwards McManus

I've just begun to research my family tree, so I'm very much a novice. My father, Frederick Howard Elkins, recently died (b Sept 14, 22; d Sept 21, 99). I recall that he had an aunt (and other relatives) named Carmichael, so I am curious about exploring that connection. I'll be happy to share what little information I currently have, if you are interested.

I am the youngest daughter of Herbert Warren Carmichael, Jr. His father was H.W. Carmichael, Sr, his father was Francis Augustus, whose father was Duncan (1820-1843)and his father was Angus who married Mary Fullerton in Greenock, Scotland. I am our family's genealogist. I have been working on our family line for 30 years. I have sent all my files to Chief Richard (in 1997), Darlene Campbell(in 1999), Clair Smith-Burns(in 1999), Tom Carmichael(in 1999) and a few others. I am ready to submit it for all Carmichael's to see if they fit into my direct line, want to add anything or need any additional info. I would be more than happy to help. I will be going to the Gathering this year and plan to go to some of the places where the family has been. Would love to hear from any Carmichael decendants. Please E-mail me at email@example.com.

"Carmical" is my family's variation on the Carmichael spelling, and I have been trying for years to find out the origin of this variation. I only have family legends and a footnote in one of the Carmichael books to go on, and supposedly, it goes back to a family dispute in the 1700s. If anyone has any information at all on this, I would love to hear it!

Hi..My Great-Great Grandmother was Josephine Carmichael..younger sister to Joseph Constant Carmichael by 2 years. She married Ambrose Hanna May 31, 1855..had my Great-grandfather (their only child) Joseph Thomas Hanna on December 3, 1856 and passed away on April 11, 1860 at approx. 25 years of age.
I had recieved a copy of Joseph Constant's autobiography years ago (late 70's) from a distant cousin Carolyn Tillman in MO and would LOVE to get in touch w/Chris Carmichael and his book "The Carmichael Clan of Nodaway County". I,m sure we are related and would also like to be back in touch with Carolyn, she was so much help..however I put my geneology away for years, lost touch and am now just getting back in the loop. Any information or assistance will be really appreciated...Thanks, Stephanie P.S. This is a great site!!!

I loved this website, and everything on it. I just visited the Carmichael estates in may (1999) but I couldn't find any information on the Carmichael church, so I thought it was really cool to see your pictures of it. My grandmother was a Carmichael (and I am in heart+blood if not name), and I will try to get the information from this branch of the family to you sometime. I hope you will continue to get more great information onto the internet like this, so that everyone can access it. Keep up the great work!!!!!

jim carmichael, (email@example.com) of: windsor, ont. at: Sat Mar 18 21:47:39 2000
Just an update to my recent entry. Here's what I know about my Carmichael history:
- James Preston- paternal grandfather emigrated to Hamilton Ont. Scotland (Glasgow? or Edinburgh?) mid 1800's.
- married Ann Greenhill- in Hamilton-moved to Windsor, Ont.
- we have always understood that through Ann we are related to Rev. John Witherspoon- Pres. of Princeton University and signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Can anyone expand or add to this info.
