Dad (Rudolph (Rolf) William Carmichael b. 16 Nov 1902 Belfast N.Ireland) to Robert and Sarah (McNabb). Dad had 5 brothers (Robert, Norman ??) and 1 sister (Sarah). At least 1 brother went to Florida, Aunt Sarah never married and came to Australia, Uncle Norman also came to Australia and died without issue. Sandra Jean Carmichael-Thoreson, (soarjean@compuserve.com) of: Rising Fawn, Georgia, USA at: Sat Feb 27 17:00:49 1999 I happened upon this website from the family treemaker forum. I was completley surprised and elated to find my great-grandfather, who has been a very great mystery to me, listed with a birthdate (I had none.) I had tried his name C.C. Carmichael, then decided to try a name which I had long suspected was a joke told to my grandmother "Christopher Columbus Carmichael" (I have tried this in many searches in the past with no results) and was amazed to find a match. Thank-you Mr. Jimmy Carmichael, and all the contributors!

Linda Carmichael, (tahnee@tznet.com) of: Stratford, WI. USA at: Sat Mar 13 04:17:35 1999 As my parents get older, I have become more interested in the family history. Our branch of the family is heavily rooted in Indiana, although the "family legend" has 3 brothers coming over during the Famine. I have met another Linda Carmichael while attending Purdue Universith and she confirmed the story of the three brothers.I am the daughter of Frederick Virgil Carmichael (b. 1920) and Beverly Fountain Carmichael (b.1930). My paternal grandfather was Glenn Carmichael, who married Julia Catterlin of Frankfort, In. Both were deaf and met at the Indiana School for the deaf. They settled in Monticello, In. and produced 3 sons-the oldest, Glenn, died in his early twenties in a car accident; the middle was my father, Fred, and the youngest, Paul. Paul married Sara ? and produced one son, Jeff. Fred and Beverly produced a daughter (me!) and a son, Frederick Glenn(named after the uncle who died.) Am interested in learning more about the Carmichaels.

It has not been added to the database, so I thought I should resend the information. We are descendents of John Lewis Carmichael (Sr.), son of Barzilla Carmichael of Stokes County, NC. The original message was e-mailed on December 11, 1998. I was at your website today, and I found my Great-great-grandfather, John Lewis Carmichael (Sr.) listed. I thought you might like to have all the of the family information which we have. John Lewis Carmichael (Sr.) married Eliza Ann (Grubbs) Carmichael (born 1837, died 1908) on September 15, 1858. Their son is my Great-grandfather, John Lewis Carmichael (Jr.) (born August 29, 1861, died January 24, 1939). We believe they also had a daughter, Ella E., who was about 2 years younger than my great-grandfather (apparently she died before reaching adulthood). Oda died in 1907. My grandfather is Basley Savannah Carmichael (born January 9, 1901in Walkertown, NC, died December 31, 1974 in Martinsville, VA). My grandfather, Basley Savannah Carmichael, married Daisy Grady (Slate) Carmichael on November 19, 1919.
