I'm looking for Carmichael connections in or from east central Alabama--in what was originally Tallapoosa County, and now may be any number of counties including the present Tallapoosa County. My great-grandmother was Mary Ann (Maryann?) Elizabeth Minerva Elmira Philo Jeannie Othello Carmichael who married William Henry Taunton. They lived in present Elmore County Alabama. I know she had at least one brother "Uncle Jim" who was repoorted to have moved to Louisiana.

Zia Miller, (ziamil@icsi.net) of: Victoria, TX at: Mon Jun 8 03:41:47 1998
A proud member of the Carmichael clan. Immigrant Dougal Carmichael was my fourth g.gf. He married Flora Monroe, and it goes on to my grandmother Annie Eugenia Carmicahel 1874-1948) married Ben Hopper. Would enjoy contact with this direct line.

Nancy Carmichael, (104171.3230@compuserve.com) of: New York City at: Tue Jun 9 02:08:04 1998
I am descended from Donald & Isabella Carmichael of Islay/Mull Scotland, who came to Peterboro, ONT, Canada area in aprx 1825. Only one son's name is known, Hugh, who married Isabella McNiven. Hugh came with his parents to ONT. Their children were Isabella, Katie, Donald, Hugh M., John, Archibald, Angus and Duncan Niven. Duncan Niven B 1854 is my great grandfather, married Jessie Eliza Bolster, and had three children: Hugh, Donald MacNevin (my grandfather) and Agnes. All three were physicians, among the earliest practicing psychiatrists. Hugh and Don came to the US, Agnes remained in Toronto area. Would be nice to find others -- I have some cousins (distant) still in ONT area as far as I know, and others here in the NYC area who are well known to me!

My grandfather Craig D. Carmichael is a big historian buff, I thought I could pass along some interesting information concerning our family name to him. The few pages I have collected so far I will enclose in his fathers day card. I also have selfish reasons for tracking this information down, as I am interested also.

John Haldane, (Father_John@hotmail.com) of: Mesa, Arizona, USA at: Sun Jul 5 17:11:12 1998
I am intrigued by where you got your Haldane names. Was it from "The Haldanes of Gleneagles" by General Sir James Aylmer Lowthorpe Haldane?
You may want to visit my website: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/h/a/l/John-L-HALDANE/
You have a couple hundred Haldane names in your database - and they all seem to match up with mine (although I only did a random check). I have many hundreds and can take the family back to 1100 a.d. (if you wish to go so far). For any Haldane (or Hadden or Halden in various spellings of the name) research, please contact me!
Thanks!

Hello,
I am trying to trace my ancestry back past my Great-Grandfather Benjamin T. Carmichael who died in St. Joeseph Mo. 1928. No information exists as where he was born. I believe he was born in Monroe, Tennessee in 1864 from the database that you have made available. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I was amazed to find some relatives on this site! I am the 3rd great-grandaughter of Susan Nash (1830-1873) and George Carmichael (1811-1891). I have more details about these family lines if anyone is interested. Also would be interested if anyone has more details to share about the ancestors or descendants of: William Carmichael (1859-1941) (who was one of their children). He married Susan Maria O'Bree (1866-1951) in 1883 and one of their daughters (Dasie Maud Carmichael-1890-1962) married David Cunningham (1890-1981). These are my great-great grandparents and great-grandparents respectively.

Thanking you for your assistance with this request, I am
Yours Sincerely,
