ROWELL (Rothwell) charter fair granted by James 1st in 1204 opens on the Saturday before Trinity Sunday and right through the following week.  The loads pull on, on the preceding Wednesday afternoon into the centre of town and build up during Thursday/Friday. On the Monday morning the Fair Proclamation is read at every watering hole in the town.  On Trinity Sunday the Rothwell Model fair takes place.
