http://thesadhistoryofthevillageofalnerique.wordpress.com - don't forget that that's the place to be for the most up-to-date Dartz, erm, updates. Lots going on in the run up to the release of 'The Sad History Of The Village Of Alnerique' so we'll try and stay on top of it all and keep the mini site updated with all of the goings on.

Apologies for the lack of updates over the past few months - we'll be keeping the site a lot more up-to-date in the run up to the release of our new mini album 'The Sad History of the Village of Alnerique', which out in September on Xtra Mile Recordings. We've set up a mini-site for the new release, it'll keep you bang up to date with all the goings on related to the release:

You may also notice that this here website has got a new address - www.wearedartz.com - if you could update any relevant links etc, that would be lovely. Thanks!

Check out the gigs page for details of our September and where to buy tickets etc - hopefully see you at a gig or two! We won't be gigging before then as Philip is spending the summer over in China, Hong Kong and Japan. Check out his blog if you fancy keeping up to speed with his travels;

Now then. I meant to update the site sooner, but it's been a hectic couple of weeks; apologies. You'll be happy to know that we had a wonderful time on our European tour - I'd go as far as to say it was probably the most enjoyable tour we've done to date. Finished things off in London with a sold out gig at The Metro - our first sold out London headline date, pats on the back all round. Anyroad, there's loads of photos from tour up on that myspace thing if you're on there... and we'll all being well see the people of the UK and possibly Germany again in September - apparently with a new EP/Mini Album type thing under our belts. We'll see, eh? Cheerio. H.

PS - set up a Big Cartel site to sell some t-shirts and tote bags, get involved: http://dartz.bigcartel.com

Hullo. Our first tour of the year kicks off in a couple of weeks time - check out all of the dates on the gigs page. We kick things off in Hartlepool of all places supporting The Young Knives, then we have a two week jaunt around Germany, France, Holland and Luxembourg sandwiched between headline gigs in Newcastle and London. Should be a lot of fun - hopefully see you at a gig or two. Tickets are onsale now for the three UK gigs and are selling pretty well, so get involved and save a couple of quid on the price you'll pay on the door in the process. Ideal.

Bonjour. Our album was released in America at the back end of last year and we've been getting some lovely press stateside - most notably a 4/5 review in AP and some kind words from various webzines, such as:

90% on Absolute Punk

4 'n' half out of 5 on Punk News

5/5 on Wonkavision

I've just been informed that for the second year running, we've won the "Song Of Year" award on BBC Tees (Radio Cleveland) courtesy of their 'Pure' show. Last year our debut single 'St. Petersburg' won it for us, this year it was 'Once, twice, again!' that did the business. Thank you to everybody involved, especially David Macmillan for his continued support.

Hola. Thank you to everybody who came to see us on tour this past week, we had a lovely time. Extra big thanks to This Town Needs Guns and Secondsmile, along with all of the promoters and the other bands we played with - in particular Frank Turner, Tellison and Pennines. Good times.

Stu from TTNG has been keeping a tour diary on their site - check it oot: www.thistownneedsguns.com/blog/ and there's a review of the London gig up on Rock Midgets: www.rockmidgets.com and a review of the Manchester date on Manchester Music, if you fancy a glance at that too: www.manchestermusic.co.uk

We've been doing a bit of recording recently and the fruits of our proverbials should, all being well, surface as an EP in March/April next year, which will coincide nicely with our little European jaunt. Ideal. Cheerio. H.

Back in June when we were on tour with I Was A Cub Scout, our friend Rob Taylor (of pop sensations Nathaniel Green) came along to the York date with his lovely old Super 8 camera and did a bit of filming. Rob and his mate Mog have edited together the footage to create a splendid little video for 'Cold Holidays' - you can check it out on Youtube:

Our tour kicks off on Thursday, it would be lovely to see you at a gig or two... check out the dates on the gigs page. Cheerio. Henry.

Hello. Rather unexpectedly we were among the 32 "acts" shortlisted for the XFM New Music Award 2007; alongside such luminaries as Kate Nash, Enter Shikari and Klaxons. Cheers to everybody who voted for us on the XFM website but unfortunately we didn't make it through to the final 10 - however, our label-mate Mr Frank Turner made it through so good luck to him! H.

23.10.2007

New tour dates now online on the gigs page. Check 'em out and we'll see you in December.

10.10.2007

For those of you "across the pond", our album is now out in America courtesy of the lovely chaps at Deep Elm Records. Visit their site for information on how to buy it - www.deepelm.com - and be sure to take advantage of one of their wonderful deals!

We're doing a little DIY tour at the start of September, with the gigs being put on by promoters who helped us out when we first started the band. After that, we're taking it easy for a few months whilst Philip and William get settled in at Uni. Hopefully see you at a gig or two in September! H.

Thanks to everybody who came to see us on tour with I Was A Cub Scout at the end of June, we had a lovely time. You can check out a couple of live reviews here and here. We're off on a little jaunt around the UK again in September... check out the gigs page for all of the dates. Cheerio.

So, it's half past 1 in the morning and I'm just putting the finishing touches to our new website - I hope you like it. It features photographs taken on our travels by either Philip, our good friend Nico or me. You can see more of our photos on flickr:

  • We've recently been confirmed for two free festivals this summer - Stockton Riverside Festival on Saturday 4th August with Badly Drawn Boy amongst others and Scarborough Beached Featival on Saturday 11th August with InMe, Frank Turner and Alsatian amongst others. Both events are completely free of charge and open to people of all ages. We hope to see you there.

As you should know by now, our debut album 'This Is My Ship' was released in the UK a few months ago on Xtra Mile Recordings Ltd. Well, we're very happy to announce that Deep Elm - www.deepelm.com - will be releasing it in North America and Japan this August. Deep Elm is one of our favourite ever labels and responsible for some incredible releases by bands like Appleseed Cast, Planes Mistaken For Stars and Sounds Like Violence, so we're pretty chuffed to say the least that they're going to be working with us.

After a two month break, we're returning to life on the road next week for a fortnights tour with I Was A Cub Scout. It should be a beauty, check out all of the dates on the gigs page where you'll also find links to advance tickets etc.

I think that's everything for now. Let us know what you reckon to the new website - especially if there's any problems with it! Cheers. Henry.
