On the railway side there will be
both passenger and a freight trains operating along the Battlefield Line. Currently on
Saturday 24th September passenger trains will be operated by diesel hauled Class 25 067
service, while the freight trains will be hauled by GWR steam loco 3803. On Sunday 25th
this reversed with 3803 on passenger train duties and the Class 25 diesel taking the
frieght train.
Amateur Radio Station GB4BLR on the air at
Shackerstone Station throughout the weekend. This is the third year this event has been
run, where heritage railways are activated via radio and is a nationwide
event. Last year UK stations were joined by registered radio stations from Australian and
Polish railways.
The Battlefield Line is hosting Hinckley Amateur Radio and Electronics Society
at Shackerstone Station over the weekend. The stations call sign
is GB4BLR (Great Britain 4 Battlefield
Line Railway).
