Whitwick Railway Station

A LNWR Railcar departs Whitwick

Current State of Site

Although platform level waiting rooms have gone you can can actually walk the trackbed from here to the Hermitage Recreation Ground. The lower level of the station has what appears to be vandalised until you get up close when you can see the excellent aerosol painted mural of a train. At the Thringstone end of the platform there is still the platform walls in evidence, but as you walk towards the rec the rest of the trackbed area has been filled in to the level of the platform. Makes a nice walk. Access to this area is via a path leading down the side of the church or from the rec ground. Also to be found at the rec ground is the North West Leicestershire Society of Model Engineers, very much worth a visit on model train running days.

The station building is now the home of the Whitwick Historical Group.

More information on this Station will be added as it becomes available.
