Operation Bosworth - 1940's Weekend at the Battlefield Line
23rd and 24th June 2012

"I say Ginger, this is not really the time to look through your gramophone collection old boy!"

New to the Battlefield Line Railway for this year is a weekend from the 1940's. In association with the Tommy Atkins Society we present an all action two day event with re-enactors bringing the past to life around the stations.

Encampments, demonstrations, and re-enactments will be the order of the weekend at Market Bosworth. Period features including steam trains, 1940 vehicles, re-enactors and characters in authentic costume.

Take advantage of a steam train service and enjoy a round trip between Shackerstone, Market Bosworth and Shenton stations. Visitors can join in by dressing in period costume and enjoy a discounted fare on the train.

There will be catering on site and a nostalgic atmosphere for visitors enjoying the variety of exhibits and attractions on offer. Journey back in time to the era that was the 1940’s as we remember with pride the people who lived and worked through World War II.

The Tommy Atkins society re-enactment group will captivate you with their fire power demonstration and mock rifle range, utilising a whole host of blank firearms, ammunition and pyrotechnics. Plus military vehicles.
