Hi, my name is Ian and I am 19 years old come from Leicester and support Leicester City.
The first match I went to was a reserve match in 1996 against Notts County and from then I was hooked with football.
The first match that I saw the Leicester First team play was on the 15th March 1997 at Leicesters old Stadium
Filbert Street, we played Middlesbrough and although we lost 3-1 I still had a good time. In only my second ever
match I saw Leicester City lift the Coca-Cola Cup beating Middlesbrough 1-0 in the cup final replay which was played
at Hillsbrough. The season after that I got my first season ticket which was a seat in the Carling Stand at Filbert
Street. I have seen the good and the bad with Leicester, the good being, winning a cup final at Wembley for the first
time ever, when we beat Tranmere 2-1. I have seen Leicester top the Premiership it only lasted about 2 weeks but
felt good at the time, playing in the UEFA Cup against Red Star Belgrade. Unfortunately with the good comes the
bad, losing the Worthington Cup Final in the last minute against Tottenham in 1999, relegation against Manchester
United, going into administration. I have been to 5 International matches - England 2-1 Serbia & Montenegro, Brazil
1-0 Jamaica, Ghana 4-1 Jamaica all played at The Walkers Stadium. England 5-0 Andorra at Old Trafford and Brazil
3-0 Argentina at the Emirates Stadium.
The 2005/06 Season was when I decided that I should try and get to more away matches, as before school work
and other things kept me from going to the away games and going to other grounds with a few exceptions. The
season was saw me complete 19 new grounds, which was not bad for my first season.
The 2006/07 season was another good season for visiting new grounds, I was hoping that it would go along with a
Push for the play offs with Leicester but yet again we were facing relegation and another finish in the lower part of the table
Happened. But from a ground visiting guide it was another quite successful season adding 20 more league grounds to my total as
Well as the New Wembley Stadium.
The 2007/08 Season is over (finally) and the inevitable happened Leicester were relegated to League 1 on the last day, sad news
But from a grounds perspective it gives me a chance to add many more to my total.
