I have a John Merrells marrying Elizabeth Pead in 1795 in Leiston, Suffolk. They had 13 children (egad!). One of the children was Edward, b.1807. Edward married Patience Backhouse in 1837, also in Leiston (they both died there too). They had 5 children that I know of. One of those children was George, b. 1846. Is it possible that this could be your George? I'm not sure why he would have his grandmother's surname as part of his name, instead of his mother's, but ... who knows? Just wondering ... what do you think? Carmen Merrells _______ Is George Edward Pead Merrells the same as George RIN#124749? _______ Note: A George Merrells married Mary Kendall on 23 Aug 1830 in Maplebeck Parish,. 22Mar05 George Edward Pead Merrells has been added to Genes Reunited through a member's family tree (Kenneth, member No. 1760735). _______ 23Mar05 Hello Sheila. My connection with George Edward Pead Merrells is that his daughter Emily Agnes was my great grandmother (my mother's mother's mother). I have only been tracing my family history for a few weeks so I doubt very much that I have found anything you have missed.
This is what I have: he is listed on Emily Agnes's marriage certificate 1885 as father with "dec'd" as occupation. I take "Dec'd" as shorthand for deceased. This is the only certain information I have. The other information comes from a gedcom file I traced via Roots Web where he is listed as married to Mary J Pattenden, born abt 1837 and died before 1872. According to the 1881 census Mary J went on to marry a Mr Miller. Or at least I deduce that because Mary J Miller is listed as head of family with daughters Emily, Ann and Alice Merrells and Ada Miller. The age for Emily Merrells fits in with those for Emily Agnes Merrells.
Not much is it? I notice you have given me access to your tree on Genes Reunited and I have given you access to mine. I would very much like to have the gedcom of Edward's decendants to see what overlap we have. And I'm sure my mother would be interested to learn about her (second and third?) cousins too. My email address is famhist.warren@ntlworld.com I'd be pleased to let you have a gedcom file of what I have on Edward's decendants if it will help you.
Regards
Chris _______
