Warren is now in his second spell
with Morton having left amid the turmoil of the administration
era. During the Tons time in the second division in
the 94/95 season Warren was a prolific scorer for
one of our rivals Berwick Rangers and scored a hat
trick against us in a 4-3 victory for the Ton. He
was second highest league scorer that season only
behind our striker Derek Liiley.
So it was welcome news when Warren
was signed the next season for our assault on the
first division teaming up with Derek and forming a
formidable strikeforce scoring plenty of goals between
them in a season which saw us narrowly miss out on
a play off spot to the premier league.
A particular favourite of mine
I was glad to see his return to the Ton after a stint
at Queen of the South. In the championship winning
season Warren added much needed experience to the
squad and showed that the firepower is still there.
The end of the seson saw Warren
take his place on the bench but his appearences from
there were notable, surely an understatement, since
he scored crucial goals including the opener after
just coming on the field against Elgin at Cappielow
as well as the only goal of the game, again after
just coming on, in the 1-0 victory over East Fife
at New Bayview in the vital promotion clash.
