Derek Collins, captain, is a true
professional who wears his heart on his sleeve for
Morton. Returning to Morton as part of Peter Cormacks
hastily built team in season 2001/02 after a short
spell at Hibs, Derek is the longest serving player
currently at the club having been with us since the
1980s.
During this spell Derek has enjoyed
the ups and downs that the supporters have from the
highs of the Premier league to the lows of recent
years. It is easy to say without overstatement, that
Dereks continued enthusiasm, leadership and love for
this club have helped it get back on track starting
with ourThird Division triumph.
An ever present in the team he
gives his all every game for the Ton and commands
respect and effort from his players who are only too
willing to give it to a true leader and gentleman.
