Dumbarton like the Ton suffered back to back relegation from the first to the third division. They returned to the second division after a couple of years gaining promotion as runners up to Brechin. Last season, their first back in the second division, they finished in 5th place.

Players known to Ton fans include Paddy Flannery our ex striker who is a prolific goalscorer for the Sons. Tom brown is another who many will know well after playing with Kilmarnock but most likely our local rivals St Mirren. They also have Nigerian Emeka Obidile who was on trial with the Ton in January but wasn't offered a contract.

Stadium

Dumbartons new ground is situated on the waterfront beside Dumbarton Rock giving rise to the stadium being known to Sons supporters as "The Rock".

The stadium was opened last year and consists of one all-seated stand along the side of the pitch. Away fans are situated in sections 1 and 2 which has 500 seats and already there is talk of games against the Ton being all-ticket but at this time that can't be confirmed.

Again like most other all-seated new stadia the atmosphere is called into question but facilities are excellent.
