Arbroath join the second division after relegation from the first in which they found life pretty tough winning only 3 games and gaining a total of 15 points. Managing to stay in the first after promotion from the second in 2000/01 their second campaign in the higher echelons proved a bridge too far.

No doubt the bookies will place them as one of the league favourites due to the fact they are coming down from the higher league.

Arbroath found it difficult to score in the first and their top goalscorer could only manage 4 goals all season. No particular players stick out except perhaps Hinchcliff the keeper who many say saved Arbroath from a much larger tally in the goals against column, but he has departed to our local rivals St Mirren.

Stadium

Gayfield is another traditional gorund, predominantly terracing. Three quarters of the ground are such with each terracing having a section of it at its centre covered at the rear.

Away supporters are usually situated in the Seaforth terrace at one end of the ground, which is affectionately know as 'the switches end' as it backs onto an amusement arcade. The East end terrace may also be opened if required.

The ground is directly next to the sea shore and adding this to the type of ground , I'm sure knowing Ton supporters will create a relaxed fun attmosphere.

Where to have a drink

There is a bar, Tutties Neuk directly across the street from the ground and is usually filled with both home and away supporters in a friendly atmosphere. This pub is quite small though so a large travelling Ton support may find it easier to try one of the pubs in town such as The Corn exchange or around the harbour area.

But I'm hungry....

Plenty of chippies for something to eat and it goes without question that theres plenty of places, especially down by the harbour, to sample the dish Arbroath is famous for, the smokie.
