The Victorian Band Stand

Photograph of the Victorian Bandstand C 1899

This fine example of Victorian Band Stand architecture once stood at the Rose Hill Recreation Ground site, adjoining the Arboretum. Opened in 1899, it stood here until January 1941.

Thanks to Tony Griffin at Derby Parks Dept. for finding this photo in the dusty archives of the Parks Dept. It has not seen the light of day for at least 20 years and is the only copy in existence. However a lot of work was needed to tidy up the original darkened image.
