Next Meeting.....Brands Hatch October 4th & 5th. CRMC "RACE OF THE YEAR." Final weekend of the season is fast approaching lets hope that the Indian Summer arrives instead of the usual Monsoon Rains that we seem to have had for most of the season. The Bike is looking good, spent some time with Dave at P&Ms and we have changed the slides in the carbs, the bike sounds even crisper so will hopefully be more responsive and the icing up problem should be a worry of the past. Will travel to Brands on Thursday before the meeting and get set up as there is an ACU track day on the Friday so should get a chance to shake the bike down and learn the track before lining up on the grid for the first race on Saturday. We're competing in 6 races over the course of the meeting as the bike is entered into the Post Classic 1300 series. I will be up against some very fast TZs etc! so just planning on using the races as a practice and warm-up before competing in the Boyer Bransden Championship and of course the 1300 Nationals. If you can make it I am sure that you will enjoy the racing especially on Sunday as most of the Championships will be decide. Look forward to seeing you all there...... Championship StandingsChris is currently 5th in the Boyer Bransden Championship with the final CRMC meeting coming up on the 1st weekend of October, After the last race at Snetterton (see Diary Page) Chris's confidence level went through the roof as he was able to stick with the front runners and holding 3rd / 4th place for most of the race and only getting pipped by 2 fast guys right on the line for an eventual 7th place but 4th in class. So we're off to Brands in October for the Final Rounds of the Championship and also the Race of the Year, If we can pick up a few points we should end up with a 4th place overall in the Boyer Bransden Championship, A year ago Chris wouldn't have dreamed that he would be going into the final round of the season and challenging for such a high position in the Championship, In his own words he was expecting to be somewhere between 10th and 20th. So 3 cheers and good luck at Brands. If you want to see some of the most exciting Motorcycle Racing in the UK then come down to Brands Hatch on October 4th / 5th for the CRMC Race of the Year Meeting. Tickets on the gate are only £12 and a weekend ticket is a mere £16 making it a cheap weekend away with an open paddock and pit lane and some furious bike racing, Your welcome to come along and say hello to Chris and show your support, he'll be in one of the pit boxes or just look for the blue & white Punch and Judy Tent in the paddock. Boyer Bransden Championship Points Standings after Snetterton...... 1st Lea Gourley 250 2nd Cormac Conroy 219 3rd Ricky McMillan 172 (Three Bears Racing) 4th Stuart Melling 166 5th Chris Chapman 162 6th Adrian Armson 143 7th Simon Bartlett 101 8th Paul Coote 86 (Three Bears Racing) 9th Tim Woolley 70 (Three Bears Racing) 10th Stephen Aitkin 50 Unfortunately Stuart Melling is out for the rest of the season, We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to racing him in 2009.
Cadwell Park 9th / 10th AugustA busy couple of weeks for Chris, up to Cadwell on the 8th Aug back on Sunday night, work Monday and Tuesday then Wed back to Cadwell for the Beezumph. Cadwell was again another successful weekend for Chris and he is certainly catching up with the quick boys, we only managed to get 1 race in on a very rain soaked Saturday with a 3hr delay in the program and the CRMC Marshalls actually pumping water off the circuit. Eventually Chris got on the track and you will be able to read the full race report later this month. In the meantime I would just like to congratulate on behalf of every one at Chris Chapman Racing Paul Potter no26 on being awarded "Rider of the Meeting" on his lovely BSA Goldstar, Paul and his brother Tony typify what clubman racing is all about. They've been plugging away totally unsupported for 22 years and slowly developing their BSA. When I get the chance I'll knock up a full profile of them and add it to the site over the winter months.
Chris with Tony & Paul Potter "Rider of the Meeting" It was also great to see Ian & Grant Tapsell from Triple Brew Racing turn up for the meeting with their Trident Sidecar Outfit. The boys only started racing and developing the outfit in 2005 and have had more than their share off bad luck and bad advice but all credit to them both for persisting against the odds. Once sorted the outfit will be a championship wining combo. Triple Brew Racing (Click on image to see their web site) CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!3rd Career Race Meeting. 4th in CHAMPIONSHIP.......... Chris Chapman Racing.....2008 will see Chris Chapman racing for the first time, he will be pushing his 1970s Rob North Trident to the limit around the best of British and European Tracks during the 2008 season For those of you who have been around the Beezumph or out and about at the TR3OC Track Days and reckon you've been passed a few times by the legendry Sean Emmett then please be advised it was only Chris Chapman formally on his Hurricane X75 but more recently on his rather fast Rob North Trident. Chris purchased Sean's old leathers a couple of years ago specifically for use on track days..... 2008.....2008 will see Chris up his game a little, over the last couple of years he has been craving more competition from track days but sadly there has not been enough to quench his thirst for going even faster on the North. So Chris is finally going racing!!! During 2008 watch out for Chris at many of the British and European Classic / Historic Race meetings. Visit the web site often for dates and information on a very exciting year ahead...... 2007 Round-up.....TRAINING DAY with the infamous MIKE EDWARDS. Cadwell Park Sept 2007
