Local Network Fund grant for coach education and involving Junior Players in coaching, umpiring and organising the game.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Cambridgeshire branch of the Local Network Fund, a national fund for children and young people, aspiring coaches within the Club have received sponsorship for the new UKCC England Netball Level 1, Level 2 and Level 2 upgrade courses and are already imparting their knowledge and skills at the Junior Club.

Funding of £5366.099 was granted last September and by the time the project is completed no fewer than 14 coaches will have gained or improved qualifications -  8 at Level 1 and a staggering 6 at Level 2. Amongst this number are 6 of our Year 11 players from Junior Hawks who became eligible to take Level 1 once they turned 16.  They in turn will then assist with coaching the Junior Section next season.

Young Netball Organisers

Those slightly younger but anxious to learn more about coaching and umpiring will follow the England Netball Young Netball Organiser Course. 30 Juniors from Year 9 and 10 will benefit from this course and will then apply their skills and enthusiasm with under 11’s - either through the Club’s annual Play Day or helping in Primary Schools.

Extra Help….

Those embarking on coaching curses will receive support and mentoring from Helen and Sue and will have the further benefit Club of additional coaching resources and equipment including a Camcorder to assist the development of the coaches in mentoring, coaching and analysing team play.

Thanks……

Hawks is indebted to the Local Network Fund for making this possible. Although the benefits are already evident within the Club the rewards will be reaped for many years to come as the skills of the coaches and the input of the youngsters cascades down to future generations both at the Club and in Primary Schools that will feed the Club.
